LTAC/LPAC lossless compressor
LTAC - Lossless Transform Audio Compression - was the first lossless codec
developed by Tilman Liebchen while studying at Technische Universität
Berlin.
The LTAC webpage is mirrored at the
Internet Archive.

After a while, the developer abandoned LTAC to focus on the development
of LPAC - Lossless Predictive Audio Compression - based on linear
prediction, increasing compression and making it faster compared to LTAC,
which is based on transform coding.
Finally, LPAC was selected as the basis of the MPEG4 lossless audio
standardization effort. After further improvements submitted by Real
Networks and NTT, the format was standardized as MPEG4 ALS and at that
time LPAC too was frozen, with no further development planned.
The LPAC webpage is also mirrored at the
Internet Archive.
