SoundApp for Mac

SoundApp 2.50 SoundApp is an audio player and converter for Mac OS Classic (System7 to Mac OS 9) developed by Norman Franke that supports a wide variety of formats for reading (including MP1/2/3, but only playable in the PowerPC version because the 68K processors are not powerful enough for real-time decoding) and writing.

It features a playlist editor and can be scripted using AppleScript. CD ripping with CDDB support is also available, but no MP3 encoding - it can only write to simpler compression schemes such as ADPCM and MACE.

The program stopped being developed in late 2000, at a time Mac OS 9 was already on the way out making way for the launch of Mac OS X. Surprisingly the web site is still available here.
